We have seen the impact of our changing climate yielding longer growing seasons, reduced lake ice, mid-winter freezing rain, violent winds, summer tropical humidity, warmer summer nights, heat domes, droughts, insect damage, fires, and floods. These changes are a frightening list.

Have you considered how these new conditions will impact our mature trees? Site factors will predict what species are most likely to survive. Come learn how to help predict the ideal replacement trees for your situation.

We will discuss the importance of introducing new ecotypes (from a different region) for species who evolved here, as well as bringing entirely new species from further south. This is a major departure from earlier restoration efforts that sought locally collected seed.

He writes a monthly column "Sustainably You" for the "Hay River Review" and lives on acreage he is restoring in NW Wisconsin.
