Help Us Manage Invasive Plant Species in our Community Parks and Natural Areas!

Riley Creek Woods Conservation Area Buckthorn Removal
​Eden Prairie is co-sponsoring a buckthorn removal project with Wild Ones at the Riley Creek Conservation Area. This project consists of cutting down buckthorn with handsaws and hand pruners, treating the stumps with herbicide, hauling and stacking. Volunteers should be comfortable working in the woods on slopes and unpaved trails.

Address: Cedarcrest Drive trail entrance (across from 17120 Cedarcrest Dr., Eden Prairie)

Dates: 
Sunday, October 23 from 1-3 pm
Saturday, October 29 from 10am to noon


What to Bring:
​Volunteers should bring their own handsaw suitable for removing woody plants 5” in diameter or smaller, loppers or pruners. Chemical for stump treatment will be provided by the city. Volunteers should have closed toed shoes and wear clothing that is weather appropriate and that they are comfortable working in.

Volunteers should be prepared to sign volunteer waivers that will be provided at the event before participating. Volunteers under 18 years of age are welcome with a parent/guardian sign off on their waiver.
Inclement Weather
​Please note that the event will be canceled and rescheduled in the event of heavy rain, lightning or winds exceeding 30mph.
